With today’s acquisition of Day Software , a Swiss web content management software company, Adobe continues to fill out its enterprise software line. The two companies reached an agreement for Adobe to acquire all of the publicly held shares of Day Software. Founded in 1993 in Base, Switzerland, Day Software has 146 employees. The company reported 2009 revenues of 36.6 million Swiss Francs ($35.5 million)

Anna Chapman, the Russian woman accused by the FBI of being part of a spy ring , had her own startup that was creating a web site aimed at helping people find apartments. Techcrunch reported today that the 28-year-old Chapman had created the company PropertyFinder and was in the midst of creating the rental web site NYCrentals.com. It has both a copy of Chapman’s business plan and a video in which Chapman describes the internet business.

IBM secures BigFix for network visibility and compliance

Computer giant IBM today announced it plans to acquire network and compliance company BigFix for an undisclosed amount, although Bloomberg BusinessWeek claims an inside source is saying the deal is worth about $400 million. The acquisition will bring IBM customers added compliance and security for their network of computers. BigFix gives customers visibility into their entire networks, anywhere from 1,000 to 100,000 computers. The system works with the customer’s IT standards and alerts the customer when a computer may drop out of compliance or if there’s a security threat.

Eucalyptus raises $20M for hybrid cloud computing

Eucalyptus Systems , a startup offering open source tools to give companies the benefits of cloud computing on their own infrastructure, announced that it has raised $20 million in a second round of funding. The company uses technology developed by computer scientists at the University of California, Santa Barbara. With Eucalyptus, companies can run applications in an internal environment using cloud technology while avoiding the normal concerns of security and being locked in to another company’s platform. Those internal environments can also be connected to public environments like Amazon.com’s, creating a “hybrid cloud.” The company recently named Marten Mickos (pictured), the chief executive who led MySQL to a $1 billion acquisition by Sun, as its CEO.

Seagate debuts a 3-terabyte hard disk drive

Breaking a barrier for storage capacity, Seagate is announcing today the world’s first 3-terabyte external hard disk drive. The desktop drive is now available under the 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk name for $249. For the geeks who keep track of such things, this drive can store 120 high-definition movies, or 1,500 video games, thousands of photos or entire libraries of digital music. Scotts Valley, Calif.-based Seagate said the desktop computer external drives will be available for both the Mac and the PC.
