For PlayStation Home director Jack Buser, however, it's quite the accomplishment -- a "very good business model for PlayStation, and quite profitable," he told Gamasutra . "With numbers like we have, it goes without saying that Home has been a huge success for our company, something that we have been very proud of." The numbers he's talking about look pretty decent on paper: there are over 100 games on the service, the average user session is about 70 minutes, there are over 50 unique spaces available and 14 million people have at least stepped foot in Home once. Not bad, but it's all about the context -- do people play those games? Do people explore those unique spaces?

Ice Straws Creatively Keep Your Drinks Cool [Stuff We Like]

Tech

alcohol

beat the heat

drinking

drinks

fun

home

household

kitchen

stuff we like

summer

Icy treats be they ice cream, smoothies, or pitchers brimming with margaritas make even the hottest summer day bearable. Home 3D is an "architecture and interior design app" that allows you to model out your home in 3D, including doors and windows on a floor plan, wallpaper, and furniture, allowing you to test out your choices on your device first before tearing out a wall or repainting a room. Having all of this functionality on your iPhone or iPad is impressive (and the best home design software costs a lot more than this one -- US$3.99 for the iPhone and $4.99 for the iPad ), but Home 3D does it with an impressive interface and a surprising number of features. You can use a color picker and choose from a set of pre-loaded furniture, buy more with in-app purchases, or try creating your own models or even using the iPhone's camera for textures.

Turn a Fallen Branch Into a Coat Rack [DIY]

Tech

diy

diy creations

home

household

nature

recycling

Now that the snow's melted and you can see your yard again, you may find some large branches that you didn't know had fallen—instead of lugging them to the garbage, turn them into a coat rack for your house.
